White House Lifts Ban on Photography and Invites Us to Help Spread the Word

What do you do when you see an e-mail with the subject line: ‘Invitation to the White House: July 1st’? Well, if you’re like most people, you’d probably question it’s validity and that’s exactly what I did. But the good news is, it was real. I was being invited to the White House on behalf of Dame Traveler along with 40 other creators to be the first group to photograph the historic house and spread the word via hashtag #WhiteHouseTour.

What an honor! The day was pretty much epic and it went something like this:

Started the day off by entering the White House and receiving this personalized invite:

Greeted by none other than Sunny and Bo Obama’s smiley faces:

Walking up these historic steps

Setting our eyes on the East Room:

And the red room:

And then came the Green Room:

Can’t forget the Blue Room and the Dining Room:

Andddd just when we thought it was over
a surprised awaited us….

Yes, that’s Marine One flying in and Obama boarding his helicopter!

and yes, that’s Mr. President waving to us as he gets ready to fly out.

And to top it all off, strolling through the East Wing (not open to the public) as we depart the White House.

I am still pinching myself. This was one of the most honorable and incredible experiences I have yet to experience. Thank you Jenna Brayton and team for inviting us to be part of this historical event!
