I’m an old soul. My heart longs for a nostalgic past where travel encompassed true glamour, oversized sunglasses, vintage suitcases, Rosé sipped underneath wide-brimmed hats, ladylike dresses flowing in the breeze coast-side of the French Riviera. You know, the type of windswept escapes worthy of classic beauties like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. I’ll let you in on a secret… traveling to Monaco completely encapsulated the romantic age of travel I dreamed of.
Basking in the Mediterranean sun, savoring Le Meridien Hotel‘s Au Soleil… never in my life have I felt so close to being in a vintage summer soirée. Every detail felt like a snapshot from a romantic vintage film. From sparkling rose to midcentury inspired graphics and bold colors, no stone was left unturned. Chasing the nostalgic past of European travel, I truly felt like I was experiencing a film reel of a classic film. What I loved about Le Meridien’s soiree was its true appreciation for timeless beauty. How could a girl not feel like their own version of a vintage beauty when here?
Perhaps the highlight of every old soul’s dream trip to Monaco was riding in a vintage car around the French Riviera. Feeling the wind sweep my hair, the sun kissing my shoulders, as the Mediterranean rolls below the cliffside hills, I was in heaven. The weaving roads of Monaco’s coastline completely enamored me. Just imagining the fabulous celebrities of yore who also have driven down the roads had me dizzy (literally and figuratively). I loved stopping over the outlooks to see the the sprawling ocean below and soak in the sun.
Monaco’s glamour isn’t just in its oceanside views and vintage glamour. The city’s hidden, sun drenched alleyways scream of charm and age. Traipsing through the tiny streets with a gelato in hand, I had to keep my camera at the ready. There is so much beauty to capture in Monaco. Pastel facades, light sifting through the cobble stoned streets, glamorous women arm in arm. How can a place like this maintain its sense of vintage allure and classic European loveliness?
For the old soul like me, there quite possibly isn’t a better place to find yourself transported to another time than Monaco.
