Hotels We Love: El Dorado Casitas Royale in Riviera Maya, Mexico

The El Dorado Casitas Royale may be an all-inclusive resort but I can assure you that this is not your typical wristband wearing, subpar food type of all inclusive resort. The El Dorado Royale exceeded my expectations with its lush and luxurious grounds, impeccable and friendly service and excellent gourmet cuisine.

The resort is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, just 15 minutes south of Cancun International Airport, 35 min from Downtown Cancun and 15 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. Day trips to Tulum and Chichen Itza are also possible, along with a myriad of other options that can easily be booked through a travel agency located right on the property called Lomas Travel. Christopher helped us book our day trip and he was incredibly helpful and friendly!

The grounds are absolutely stunning, lush with towering palm trees, plants, flowers and even a greenhouse! Since the property is huge, chauffeured golf carts are available for easy access to all areas, including the nearby Generations and El Dorado Royale hotels.

The cabana beds that run along the beachfront property were my favorite! And the resort had tons of character. My sister and I stumbled upon a colorful tiled oasis while exploring and we didn’t want to leave!

Room
The private swim up pool, exclusive swim up bars and butler service make upgrading your stay to the casitas section of the resort worth it. Gabby (our morning/afternoon butler) and Hector (our evening butler) were some of the most genuinely kind people I have ever met. They made our stay so memorable and went above and beyond to make my sister happy and comfortable.

Tip
: if you like a lot of natural light, the rooms at the lower level can be a bit dark even when it’s sunny out, so request one on the upper level.

The spacious rooms come equipped with a complimentary full bar and mini bar that are replenished daily, an outdoor shower (as well as an indoor one) and a secluded balcony with a dining table and outdoor bed.

Food
The resort’s cuisine is based on their Gourmet Inclusive philosophy which basically means you’ll be experiencing dishes from top chefs made with fresh and local inredients and a variety of cuisines, all inclusive.

The resort has has 7 restaurants serving everything from Italian, Asian, American to Mexican cuisines and reservations are not required for dinner.

The biggest perk? 24 hour room service is complimentary. It rained 2 out of the 4 nights we were there so this definitely came in handy! My sister and I had a slumber party and watched movies provided by our butler.

My favorite was Jo Jo’s Caribbean Seaside Grill, serving up Caribbean cuisine with the most perfect view of the beach and the resort’s pier. The short ribs, fish n’ chips and calamari are incredible!

Each restaurant has its own unique flair with beautiful decor and  excellent attention to detail, providing for the ultimate dining experience wherever you choose to go.
