Why Bora Bora Is my Favorite Island in the South Pacific

I’ve always been mesmerized by the islands of the South Pacific Ocean. They are true tropical havens that exude relaxation and tranquillity, perfect for immersing yourself in island time. While I consider all of them to be beautiful and unique in their own ways, the stunning island of Bora Bora has always been the one I dreamt of. Described as the most romantic island in the world, Bora Bora certainly has a unique charm that will make you fall in love with it at the first sight (I know I did).

Seeing the beauty of Bora Bora

I must have seen thousands of photos of Bora Bora, but once I arrived there, I realized that none of them could truly depict this island’s beauty. I will always remember those stretches of white soft sand so fine that it resembled dust. The blue sky dotted with white clouds perfectly reflected onto the deep turquoise waters. The island’s Matira Beach was the most beautiful one I have ever been to. I was lucky enough to visit it while it wasn’t so crowded, so I just relaxed there and listened to the sound of waves. Mount Otemanu also enchanted me with its towering, majestic beauty bathed in the sunlight. It looked a bit different, more beautiful by the day, if that’s even possible.

Exploring the activities of Bora Bora

Although Bora Bora is a quiet island with a laid-back atmosphere, there was still plenty of interesting activities I could try. Of course, hiking up to Mount Otemanu was an experience that I didn’t want to miss. However, the most awe-inspiring of them all was a helicopter tour of the island. The view of Bora Bora from the aerial perspective is something that I will remember forever. The tour of Bora Bora Lagoonarium was also exciting, with lovely snorkeling opportunities – you can even swim with stingrays and sharks, but I didn’t dare. What I did dare is to try parasailing and it was thrilling! It got my adrenaline running in no time.

Having a taste of Bora Bora cuisine

While the food at my resort was truly exquisite, I wanted to try something a bit more different, so I went to a roulette for a quick bite and I ended up with a true gastronomic experience. The delicious dish of fresh tuna marinated in coconut and lime combined with the authentic local atmosphere left me full and satisfied. As for Bora Bora restaurants, I really liked La Villa Mahana, an art-inspired restaurant that combines local ingredients with exotic spices. The artsy ambiance gave the restaurant a unique character that I truly enjoyed.

Drinking in Bora Bora

Bora Bora certainly has more than a few places where you can relax and have a delicious drink. Bloody Marys are definitely the most popular one and it charmed me with its island-inspired ambiance, white-sand floors and stools made of coconut tree trunks. I was also a regular guest at Mai Kai, locals’ favourite bar with live music and entertainment. However, there was nothing more relaxing and inspiring than sipping my refreshing Mojito in the tranquil atmosphere while admiring the setting sun.

Having a good night’s sleep in Bora Bora

I think I never slept so well in my life as I did during my vacation on this majestic island. Without a doubt, luxurious Bora Bora hotels are crème de la crème of accommodation options. Each resort offers a range of amenities, such as golf courses, private pools, and spa facilities. I was staying in a Le Meridien overwater bungalow with an awe-inspiring view right from my bed. I wanted to stay there forever, relaxing in my lounge chair on the deck and admiring the beauty of Bora Bora.

With its out-of-this-world beauty, laid-back tropical atmosphere and diverse activities, Bora Bora is truly a paradise that I will always go back to.
