Have you heard? We’re jetting off to Portugal this July! Hosting group trips is one of our favorite elements of what we do. It gives us the experience of exploring a new place together while bonding and connecting with like-minded, adventurous women – and also give you our insider tips and tricks on travel photography in workshops and on location! Today we wanted to share a sneak peek of what our itinerary looks like.
Day 1 & 2 – Lovely Lisbon
To start out our incredibly week of savoring all that Portugal has to offer, we’ll begin with an easy pick up from the airport and transfer to our hotel. After checking in, we’ll start exploring Lisbon together! We’ll stroll through the oldest districts, taking in the beautiful architecture, pastel hued buildings and iconic tile work. And of, course, we’ll share a delicious welcome meal together on a classic rooftop bar to ring in a wonderful week ahead!
The next day, we’ll take a walking tour to learn more about Lisbon’s history while we traipse through its hilly neighborhoods, seeing its famous monuments and gardens. And of course, we’ve planned some really picturesque locations to see (and document), including the Jeronimos Monastery, Tower of Belém, Time Out Market and the LX Factory.
We’re also super excited to teach you an Introduction To Travel Photography Workshop (& How To Find The Coolest Locations) course. This workshop will help you learn how to scout unique, Insta-worthy locations while also teaching you the ins and outs of how to capture beautiful travel images. We’ll discuss our methods of finding “hidden gems” around the world and how to master the perfect solo shot. And we’ll teach you on location when we explore together too!
Day 3- Exploring Sintra
On day three, we’ll be exploring the wonders of Sintra. We’ll cover every nook and cranny of the village, taste its famous pastries, snap beautiful momentos and enjoy lunch together before driving through Natural Park of Sintra to Cabo da Roca, which is the westernmost site of Continental Europe. It’s going to be a stunning day of sightseeing!
Day 4 & 5: Porto Awaits
Our next two days will take us to the port city of Porto. We’ll visit the Igreja do Carmo, Rail Station Sao Bento (known for its famous blue tiles), Igreja dos Carmelitas and Livraria Lello on a guided city tour. We’ll also walk along the riverside area ‘zona Ribeirinha do Porto’ and end the day by enjoying a boat ride along the Douro River to take in the beautiful city from a new angle. Talk about a once in a lifetime experience!
Day 6: Wine Tasting In Douro Valley
Have you heard of the Duoro Valley? It’s pretty much the mecca of delicious wines AND it’s a Unesco World Heritage site. The Douro area is incredibly beautiful! The Duoro river cuts through the lush greenery, which nourishes some of the world’s best grapes. Together, we’ll learn a thing or two about what makes a delicious wine. I’m looking forward to this day to kick back, relax and bond after some jam-packed days of exploring together!
Day 7: Lisbon’s Culinary Delights
When we return back to dear Lisbon we’ll let you decide how you want to spend your day! Either relax by the coast or enjoy an option food and drink tour!
Should you choose to join us to savor Portugal’s treats, we’ll start from the main square, Rossio and visit iconic cafés, historical and world-known restaurants, learning about the well-loved recipes passed down for generations. Get hungry! We’ll be eating like locals and trying everything from cheese, fried treats, ‘tremoços’ (lupin), ‘imperial’ beer, ‘caldo verde’ soup, ‘bifanas,’ pastries, espresso and ‘pastel de nata’! Are you drooling yet?
We’ll end the day with a farewell dinner, where I’m sure we’ll shed a few happy tears and laughs!
Day 8: Fair Thee Well Portugal!
On our last day, you’ll wake up and be transferred to the Lisbon airport! Kiss this beautiful country goodbye. Although I’m sure it’ll stay in your heart forever!
