Hotels We Love: Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa

December 21, 2016

We had the pleasure of being invited to the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa last week for a ‘Girls Getaway Weekend’.

We were welcomed by the amazing staff with the local greeting “M’alob K’iin” which is translated with “Good Sun”.

Presidente InterContinental is the only luxury resort on the island of Cozumel. Everything about the property speaks luxury and simplicity with Mexican cultural touches, from the design of the rooms to the menus.

The rooms are filled with natural light both on the ground and first floor and all are equipped with a private terrace or balcony. Some of the rooms even have a beautiful outdoor shower. The Reef Suites and Presidential Suites are located in the most remote area of the resort giving guests more privacy. Our room had an amazing ocean view and direct access to the beach which made our stay even more relaxing.

As soon as we stepped outside it felt like being in an incredibly beautiful natural paradise. Tall palm trees and the blue and green ocean surround the resort’s ground, making the view at sunset magical.

The infinity pool is situated just steps from the ocean, it’s heated and is for both adults and children. For those in need of a more quite environment, there are private cabanas available to rent for the day or there’s an adult only pool on the opposite side of the property.

One of my favorite things about the resort was its beautiful spa. We spent a whole day getting pampered there, starting with a unique Tamazcal experience, followed by a deep tissue massage and a pore cleansing facial. The structure is very elegant and the design has a calming influence. Right next door, guarded by two silent guardians statues, there’s also a gym opened 24 hours, very convenient for those who’d like to keep up with their workout even on vacation.

Dining

The resort offers a unique culinary experience. There are 3 restaurants, each one with its own personal style and design:

El Caribeño: Ideal for enjoying a light meal under the shade of a giant palapa. The food is mainly regional Mexican with international options and a delicious variety of fruit cocktails. We loved the breakfast buffet held here, the green juice was amazing!

Le Cap Beach Club: located right on the beach is perfect for seafood and Mediterranean cuisine lovers. Most dishes are prepared in a wood-fired oven or grilled. We strongly recommend the tuna and salmon carpaccio accompanied by a refreshing avocado margarita on the rocks!

Alfredo Di Roma Trattoria: an elegant Italian restaurant perfect for dinner. Their signature dish is Fettuccine Alfredo but I decided to go for some grilled mahi mahi instead and it was excellent.
