The charming, tree-lined town of Arrowtown is situated in the Otago region of New Zealand, which makes for a great day trip or base for exploring the region.
Arrowtown is famous for its gold mining history, particularly the Chinese settlement that came in search of fortune on the banks of the Arrow River in the late 1800s. The rich history of Arrowtown is still present today with ruminants of the settlement still intact, as well as original gold rush buildings that line the main street of the town.
Buckingham Street buzzes with quaint cafes, unique boutique shops and hidden alleyways wanting to be explored. This picturesque town is a must on any travelers list visiting New Zealand and I can assure you, Arrowtown will not leave you disappointed.
