A Day Trip to Positano

This blog post is dedicated to show you a glimpse of what we got to experience in Positano. Granted it is a luxury travel destination and therefore comes with a high price tag, we opted to take a day trip from Naples to Positano in order to save. And I must say, Positano is the best place to end a beautiful trip in Italy.

On our last few days in Italy, we based ourselves in Naples – not only because our airplane departs from there, but towns like Positano are quite expensive during high season. A night before our trip, while walking around Naples, we accidentally walked across Stazione Napoli Centrale on Piazza Garibaldi, so we decided to check the train schedule for the next day’s trip. We eventually took the train that leaves from Naples to Sorrento around 6:00 am to make the most out of our day in Positano. The train ride for two costs, as of this writing, 7.20 euros for a Sorrento – Naples round trip. From Sorrento, we took the bus to Positano, which took about an hour. Our Sorrento to Positano round trip tickets also cost 7.20 euros. All in all, the trip was worth it. Aside from saving a lot, we both enjoyed the view from the bus without worrying about driving the narrow winding roads along the coast of Amalfi. And if by any chance you will take the bus, make sure to sit on the right side to see the amazing views.

Before heading down to the beach, we bought some grapes, San Benedetto peach iced tea, and freshly made sandwiches from a local deli located near the Spiaggia Grande.
While other travelers opted to spread their blankets on the shore, we decided to rent a sun lounge, which was perfectly positioned for pure relaxation.

After taking a dip in the clearest waters we’ve seen, we decided to explore the town and left our wet clothes on the sun lounge to dry.

After hours of exploration, we came back to the beach to take some photos. It was around 5:00 pm and most travelers already left. Clark and I managed to have some quiet time while watching the sunset.

Positano is one of my favourite destinations in the WORLD. These photos bring back so many memories! What was your favourite thing about Positano? I think mine was staying in one of the villas on the hill and waking up to that gorgeous view and those beautiful colours!
